In Florida the standard of care is what a reasonable healthcare provider would do under the same or similar circumstances. So it is essentially a reasonableness standard that we use in order to prove medical negligence. So, for instance, in a failure to diagnose breast cancer case, if there is a mammogram and there is a mass that the radiologist should have seen, if a reasonable radiologist would have seen that in interpreting that film, that would be a deviation from the standard of care.
