The damages related to a wrongful death are somewhat complicated. There’s pain and suffering for the loved one, and that depends on what type of wrongful death it is, whether it’s medical malpractice or a different type or caused by somebody who is not a healthcare provider. If the person was working at the time, they’re entitled to what’s called the net accumulation of earnings, which is a complicated analysis, but it’s basically meant to compensate that family for what that person would have been able to earn for the family. And there’s other various potential damages available in a wrongful death case, but they’re very case-specific. And what’s really important, and one of the things that I know we’re very good at, is making sure that we don’t overlook any type of damages. Meaning that when a client hires our law firm, one thing that client can expect is that we will make sure that every single damage available to that family, we will make sure that we do our best job to maximize their compensation.
