So the lawyers at our firm have handled quite a few failure to diagnose cancer cases. Some of those are involving failure to diagnose breast cancer cases; some are involving failure to diagnose lung cancer. We specifically had a case against Holy Cross Hospital in Broward County in which a patient went in for what should have been a routine nasal surgery. The surgeon took pathology during the surgery. The pathology results were misread by the in-house pathologists, which led to a significant delay in cancer diagnosis for that patient. Unfortunately, the delay was so great that by the time the ultimate diagnosis of cancer was made, the disease was so advanced that the patient ultimately lost their life to that disease. And most importantly, and what is truly tragic, is had that cancer been diagnosed at the time of the initial surgery, much more likely than not, that patient or client would have survived.
