You can file a medical negligence claim even if you signed an informed consent form because nowhere on the form does it ask you to consent to be negligently operated on and even if it did, the law would not permit that. So, an informed consent only notifies you that there are certain foreseeable complications that may be unavoidable even under the best of circumstances, but they do not give the physician a pass to cause those complications through negligence.
