Cerebral palsy can be caused by medical malpractice. The most common way that this occurs is through a HIE injury or hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy . Cerebral palsy ultimately is the diagnosis that is made as the child gets older, and frequently due to the HIE injury. And again that again typically occurs when the baby is suffering from fetal distress during the delivery process. If the labor delivery nurses or the nurse midwife, or obstetrician do not timely intervene, that can cause the HIE injury, which then ultimately, unfortunately, leads to cerebral palsy.
