Who Owns HCA Aventura Hospital?
Hospital Corporation of America, or HCA, owns Aventura Hospital. According to Becker’s Hospital Review, HCA is one of the largest hospital operators in the country, with approximately 180 hospitals, including 46 in Florida.
This powerful corporation amasses significant wealth every year. The Legal Examiner reports that HCA made $5.6 billion in profits in 2022 and paid over $4.9 billion in dividends to shareholders. Yet HCA’s hospitals are routinely understaffed, and many of its workers receive low salaries. According to the report, some HCA hospital patients have died from inadequate monitoring by overworked staff.
A report by the Service Employees International Union found that HCA hospitals in Florida have an average of 32 percent fewer staff members compared to other hospitals in the state. Understaffing is a key contributor to medical malpractice. Sadly, it appears that HCA’s priority is profits, not people.

Case Study: Patient Becomes Paraplegic Due to Premature Discharge from Aventura Hospital
Our client was a 70-year-old man who arrived at the Aventura Hospital emergency room with neurologic complaints stemming from a fall at home. Aventura Hospital discharged him two days later without treatment, instructing him to visit his primary care doctor. His primary care doctor referred him to a neurologist, who sent him to another hospital for emergency surgery.
Unfortunately, it was too late to prevent permanent paraplegia, changing our client’s life forever. Aventura’s staff could have prevented this result if they had properly diagnosed and treated our client.
Hospitals must follow established medical protocols to ensure patients receive the necessary care, especially during emergencies. The Florida Office of Insurance Regulation reports that Aventura Hospital has made 84 payments to medical malpractice victims who suffered permanent major or grave injuries, including paraplegia, quadriplegia, blindness, loss of more than one limb, brain damage, permanent injury requiring lifelong care, or death.

TESTIMONIALS
I met Dan when I was in therapy and he came and right away it felt like a family member visiting you, a connection, like a brother. He’s been on both sides of the fence. He’s represented the hospitals and the doctors, and then he jumped over to the other side. It is a fantastic group, it was like Bell Belichick leading the team. They changed my life and still check on me. I recommend FHV to anybody and they thank me.
LARRY
I met Dan about a year ago. He never made me feel that it was about the money. When he spoke with me he was asking how Bill (my brother) was and if he was doing better. He made me feel like family and always asked if I was alright. That means a lot. Everyday is something new and I challenge for my brother. I would recommend [FHV] to everybody because I really believe that they’re helping from their hearts… from a really good place.
BILL
For anyone to represent anyone for 5 years and take the time to do it, not once just “get it out of the way” and “get it done with”. It was about what was best for Hunter and our family. It was about the case and the people.
