In a typical birth injury case, you will need an obstetrician, probably a labor and delivery nurse, and both of those will be looking at the condition of the mother, the objective clinical evidence as she was laboring, and also they should be experts in reading fetal tracings. You may have to have a sonographer look at it in some cases, and for potential post-delivery negligence, you may also have to have a neonatologist look at it to determine if there were negligent errors in the resuscitation period.
