Birth injuries occur with a pretty significant degree of frequency. Oftentimes, babies are injured in various ways and the mom isn’t told the reason why the injury occurs. So, for instance, a child suffers what’s called an Erb’s palsy injury, and that’s an injury to the nerves that run from the neck through the arm. And that can happen when the baby is coming down the birth canal and their shoulder gets impinged on the pelvis. And frequently, the doctors and the nurses will tell the mom that this is an injury that’s going to resolve. And unfortunately, a lot of times what happens is that’s a permanent injury that’s going to affect that child for the rest of their life.
